The Original Velatis, Inc. began making caramel candies in the 1850’s in Richmond, Virginia. The company moved to Washington, DC in 1866. Today, Velatis manufactures over twenty varieties of chewy and sugary styles of caramel candies made from Old European recipes. Vanilla and chocolate caramels are made with and without nuts and marshmallow centers. Seasonal varieties include black cherry brandy, creme de menthe, chocolate raspberry liqueur, key lime, sweet & sour green apple, pumpkin spice, and egg nog. Our black cherry brandy caramels took the "Best New Food Award" at the 2004 Virginia Food and Beverage Expo.
